Dear Employer,
Do you remember sitting in a classroom and wondering
"why do I need to learn this?" Are you having a difficult
time finding qualified, ready to work employees? You can be part
of the solution to the problem of unqualified workers and labor
shortages.
The Vermont Chamber of Commerce Business Education Partnership, in
cooperation with its affiliates Vermont Construction Careers Council,
Vermont Tech Corps, and the Vermont Mentoring Partnership are compiling a directory of resources that will be
available throughout the state in both hard copy and on the web. This
directory can be used by educators, students and parents to provide a
wealth of information that will help integrate relevant, practical
applications of various subject areas into classroom, curriculum, assist
with career exploration and ultimately prepare a better prepared workforce
for you.
Research has shown that students benefit from classroom activities which
make learning relevant and connect the skills and information taught in
the classroom to the workplace. Such activities increase student
motivation, knowledge retention and awareness of career opportunities and
choices.
There are a variety of levels in which you may
choose to participate in. Please complete the Employer
Participation Form, which briefly describes the types of
activities that are available for your participation. We hope you
will you will use this opportunity to help educators develop a better
understanding of how skills and information taught in the classroom
can and do transfer into the workplace, while learning about the
business environment. We also hope this directory will help establish
an opportunity for effective dialogue between businesses and educators.
Please help us by forwarding the link
to this form to other employers or businesses that you think
would like to be included. Together we can continue to improve the
educational opportunities for all Vermonters, while building
our future workforce.
Sincerely,
Robin Morton
